CBT – Compulsory Basic Trainings
Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) was introduced in Northern Ireland on 21st February 2011. This is training that all learner moped and motorcycle riders will have to complete before being permitted to ride unaccompanied on public roads.
The 1st part of your theory test is a random selection of highway code questions, the 2nd part of the test is a video Hazard Perception test, this will involve you clicking any hazards that appear on screen with a mouse button. Here is a example video of a Hazard Perception test.
Your car licence will provide provisional licence entitlement for a motorcycle up to 125cc (max 14 bhp) with L plates. You will, however, have to take a motorcycle theory test and pass both the off road and on road test then you can ride a bike up to 33bhp. This restriction applies for 2 years when it is automatically deleted.
